FMCSA — Vehicle Safety

Hydrogen is a hazardous material that may be transported by a motor carrier. Regulations exist which govern the safe transportation of hydrogen. Under statutory authority, FMCSA is charged with enforcing the hazardous materials regulations and cite shippers and carriers of hazardous materials.

Applicable Statutes are found in 49 USC 31136 and 31502(b), and are subject to section 30103(a) of this title
If a commercial vehicle will use hydrogen as a fuel source, the specific regulations regarding fuel systems of a commercial motor vehicle are found in 49 CFR Part 393.65 Subpart E, 393.67 and 393.69.

FMCSA - Vehicle Parking & Storage

FMCSA is charged with enforcing regulations for the parking and storage of vehicles containing hazardous materials, or utilizing hazardous materials as a fuel.

Applicable Statutes can be found in 49 CFR Part 397.
